Abuk-Abuk Sago
While mak is here today, I took the opportunity to ask another secret recipe from her. But it's no longer a secret once I revealed it here, hehe. No lokek-lokek (stingy) to share lah hor, nanti mati pun tak bawak bersama :p
The ingredients is not being weight by grams nor by ounce but it goes by estimation. Maklum lah orang lama, mana ada pakai timbang2 ni. Ok, here it goes:
Ingredients:
-1 packet of pearl sago, washed, soaked 10 mins. & strained
-1/2 packet of grated hulled coconut
(HengGuan brand from NTUC) <- siap promote lagi!
-pinch of salt
-few banana leaves, cut & scalded
-some toothpicks
-steamer
Fillings:
-gula melaka, chopped
How:
1. Mix coconut with salt together with sago.
2. Fold banana leaf into a cone shape and fill in 1 tbsp of sago mixture. Then fill 2 tsp of gula melaka and topped with another 1 tbsp of sago mixture.
3.Fold back neatly & tightly to prevent the content from spilling out. Prick the tip end with sharp toothpick.
4. Arrange in the pre-heated steamer & steam about 10 mins.

Folded by my beloved mak, cayang mak!

Why on earth do those people called these abuk-abuk? Beats me. Does it looks berabuk (dusty) anyway?
